This past Friday, I went to a Malay arts  Festival, one the revolves around famous Malay actor, singer, director and composer P. Ramlee. My Dad took part in a singing competition while my Mom was a special guest performer that night. It was a good the show, the contestants all put on decent performances. Dad did well in imitating the late P.Ramlee’s trademark singing style. Here are some pictures I took during the show.

Sorry I haven’t updated for soooo long. My bad. Tons of stuff to do.

I’m very tired now…got back from field camp on Sat at 11.  So errr..I’m recuperating now trying to rest. Booking in back to camp at 8 later. Pffff..well at least camp’s better than the field.

Soldier Boy

Yes,yes I know this blog has been dead for quite some time. Well, its gonna be dead for longer once I serve my country starting this Friday. SO…I hope I’m missed. Its not gonna be pretty in there, but I’ll go out a better man. =)

Hey there. I’ve been wanting to write a post for days now but haven’t got the time-no okay haven’t got the will to do so.In case you’re wondering what the ruler of Planet Putra looks like now, well, here you go.

Last Friday, I played a friendly against Aide Iskandar’s selection team. I was so ready to score. And guess what? Hady Mirza – YES, THE Hady Mirza was playing for the Aide’s team! He arrived and talked to us, he’s such an average, typical, good guy. He doesn’t smile much, but he speaks to us as a normal person would, with respect and never placing himself as the Oh-I’m-A-Celebrity-So-I’m -Better-Than-You merit. I liked the way he spoke to us in a Kampung-Style Malay fashion. I hate it when people have this stupid implication that once people become famous, they become snobbish and “kerek” or “how lien” . Like the way they say Taufik Batisah and Aliff Aziz have their heads in the sky just cus they’re famous. Why,people why? Keep in mind that you might not see these people everyday but when you do, you might have caught them on a bad day where they prefer to be quiet and private. Right? But anyway, Hady’s such a role model for me, how he won over the fans in Asian Idol…wow. SO proud that he’s Singaporean+Malay. Star struck man, star struck.

Hady and I

Hady and I

Okay,so there was the match, right? The defenders were rough on me and I had to think of an escape, quick. But I never think well in matches. There’s always indecision! Argh! But then, I had an opportunity to break my duck when a team mate slipped a through ball to me. I chased it,defender breathing down my neck and all and tried smacking the ball into the far corner of the net with my right boot. Unfortunately, intentions sometimes don’t become outcome as my intended diagonal shot went straight at the ‘keeper and it bounced off him for a corner. As a striker, I think I should put away all the chances I get,no matter how hard it would seem to be. But considering the cake of rust that stuck upon my footballing metal, it was an excusable miss. However, the next one….not so excusable. We were playing wall all across the pitch and a slick move made way for a cross from the right which missed a defender, a team mate, and another defender. Then the ball fell to me. All I had to do was sidefoot it into the bottom left hand corner. But everything happened so fast and mis-kicked and missed!!!! I had the ‘keeper beaten but I missed! From a meter and a half I missed!!! NoOOoooOoo!!!!!!! Why is this happening!!????? Haaha. Then Hady Mirza, playing as a striker, scored. Hady, the singer, the entertainer, scored. I,the footballer, who has dreams, missed. Haiyo! And then I felt the ankle again. Again with the ankle! Just 30 mins into the match and already I asked to be taken off. Sigh….but we were the better team overall, though. Aide did not play until the 70th minute or so. He is a monster of a man! He’s huge! I wished I could play against him…=( In the end, it was Ottawa Serpent 3 Aide Iskandar Selection 3.

Ok so last night, went out with WRS friends for buka(fast breaking dinner). I was glad to see them. Nurul and the rest(Hanafi,Sadiqul,Shaiful,Farouzqshk and Famie) were late(as usual), and we headed off to City Hall. In the MRT, we were a bit noisy because of the jokes and the banter we were giving to one another. Only Famie was typically quiet. Upon reaching, we met Aishah and headed to..errr a place in City Hall. Nurul actually wanted to eat at a food court. A food court. In the town. Can you believe that????? The nerve of that girl! Drag my ass all the way to City Hall to eat……Food Court food? We might as well have stayed in Causeway Point,Woodlands to eat! Haiya.. So I told her eat some place else and we ate at Swensen’s(which, ironically,is found in Causeway Point as well, heehee) . I had the Sourdough 49ers(which I won’t be having again) and the rest had, well, food as well. Then the BIRTHDAY! girl arrived with her boy toy,Faizal just as our food arrived. Iqul had trouble with his chunky Salmon and Chicken sandwich, Aishah and Famie shared a pepperoni cheese pizza,Shaiful and Farouzqshk ate the same thing, breaded Chicken steak,Nurul had….Omelette.Tsktsktsk. Omelette. First she suggested a food court, then she ordered OMELETTE. And Hanafi had Chicken Baked Rice,my favourite!

An hour and many photos later, we exited the restaurant to find some place to sit and talk about stuff. We walked to Boat Quay and sat at this..place. And oh,we met Farhan there too. So we talked and laughed and talked some more. We talked bad about alot of people. I don’t dislike those people we talk bad about, but I do it anyway. Why eh? Hmmmm…. And we took some pictures as well. Then I stood back while they were sitting to take a moment to look and my friends.

Everything was well. I mean, Hanafi is taller(though not meatier), Farouzqshk is meatier(though not taller), Iqul, sporting Porcupine, golden hair, had his Pump shoes on, Farhan was, well,Farhan, Shaiful is still his annoying old self, Famie was still hot, still sexy, Aishah has eyebrows now, Nurul looked decent in her lovely dress and Hanisah looked happy with Faizal. So, nothing’s changed too much and we were still who we were in secondary school. And that made the outing worthwhile: being with the people you know and love and care about.=)

They were taking up my photo space!!!

So its 2pm, I’ve just woke up and there’s nothing to do. I don’t want to play my PS2 because if I do, 4 hours fly by as fast as a blink of the eye. SOOOO.. I thought I’d teach myself playing guitar and then go to the gym later. Last night, I played my first match in weeks. Lost my sharpness in front of goal, missed to opportunities in front of goal and had a header strike the bar, but I was surprisingly fit enough to chase after defenders and hassle them for the ball. Overall, it was an acceptable performance considering the fact that I hadn’t played for a long time and most of the players were new and I didn’t know most of ‘em. Oh and my ankle was okay after the match.

United lost!!!! Ahawwww!! Sooo disappointing because it was a match I had been looking forward to watching for 3 weeks!!!! Edwin made a horrible mistake and then Ryan made another mistake! AH!!! But Berba was,for much of the match, the Invisible Man. Other than the assist for Tevez’s goal, his United debut was nothing special. But hey,it’s only the third match, ehy? No worries. Good teams bounce back from disappointments. And Man United are the BEST team. Chelsea, consider yourselves warned.

And speaking of Chelsea, I was so glad they beat the chumps who played for United’s evil twin. HAH! They think they can be the best, they can’t even beat the best!!! Robinho scored and then….wow and then nothing! They just could’nt find the net after that! Not Stephen Ireland, who couldn’t hit the target from 20 yards out, not Jo, whose main contribution was getting Terry sent off. Hey, Abu Dhabi! There’s your reality check and the Blue Boys of London gave you your due receipt. HAha!

Welcome,Dimitar!

YESSSSSS!!!! Finally,United have landed Dimitar Berbatov for £30,000,000+. A record transfer for Manchester United. I think he’ll make a big impact at Old Trafford. It complicates issues, like who will start upfront because United have quality in abundance in attack with Wayne Rooney, Carlos Tevez, Cristiano Ronaldo(who’ll be back by the end of September) and now Dimitar Berbatov. But I’m sure Sir Alex will figure something out. United haven’t had the best of starts so far, collecting just 4 points from 2 games in the league and losing in the UEFA super cup match, but this will just be a setback. Next week,United will meet the Scousers(a match in which United WILL win). There will be no better platform for Berba to perform on than this. Should he have an excellent game,he will be an instant legend at Old Trafford. Come on you Reds!

Dimitar Berbatov

Now I want to discuss this whole Manchester City “We’re taking the football world by storm because we have lotsa money” hoohah. Okay, I respect their ambition, but come on, how can you become the biggest club in the world in 10 years? And how can you become bigger than United? United won 17 league titles, 11 FA cups and 3 European Titles and the doubles and trebles and all that in 107 years to become arguably the biggest club in the world, how can City, who’ve won less than 10 league titles and just 4 FA cups become the world’s biggest club in 10 years??? HAh! Richest maybe, but definitely not BIGGEST. Other than United there’s Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Juve, Milan, Inter, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich. City don’t deserve to even be mentioned in the same breath as these teams. Even Blackburn and Leeds are more successful than City in the Premiership.

So they bought Robinho. So what? Do you think if Chelsea had come up with an agreement with Real,Robinho would have gone to City? City is waaaaay a step down from Real. Because of the cash, he went. But even then he mixed Chelsea up with City, hahah! They send blank cheques to Real for Ruud van Nistelrooy(HAHA!!!) and make crazy bids for players like Torres,Fabregas,Villa, and Ronaldo for what,£134 million? Come on, Ronaldo wanted to go to Real, so what makes him want to go to City??? Won’t that still be in Manchester?? He’d rather play for United in 100 lifetimes than be a City scum for a second I think.

So I think City is a longshot from being a HUGE club. World-beaters. What’s in it for a team that was beaten 6-0 by Chelsea(if you want to be a big fish, you have to beat the big fish, right? And against the big fish, they got whooped 6-0) and 8-1 to ‘Boro,I repeat, ‘Boro!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

To all Muslims, Happy Fasting!! =)

Pfff…hi,welcome to the boring life of Putra. You might be thinking, hey I want to live your life,Putra! No school,part-time job, sleep whenever wake up whenever…but trust me,this isn’t my lifestyle of choice. I’d rather be involved with school, having friends around me,growing up. Back when I was still in secondary school there was never a day that I woke up not looking forward to school…unless of course when its height and weight taking day where I’d have to measure my height and see that its only 166cm. I’ve been 166cm for 3 years now. BAHHH!! Secondary school in my repeat years really helped me mature. Well,of course I was still constantly angering Mr Yap with my mischief and pissing off Mrs Whelan with questions I don’t know the answers to which she didn’t feel she had to answer. But I learned to be more ambitious with my studies, to be more ready for disappiontment(such as when I failed a math test I fully expected to do well at)  and also to act like the 16 or 17 year old I was at the appropriate time-although at times I feel I really had to let out the 9 year old in me.

So now I really wish I were a Poly student, making friends, growing up into an adult. Now I’m stuck as the 17 year old who has nothing much to do but play PS2 and eat and sleep and workout. But Hey! This is all for a good cause and I hope this patience will all pay off when I get to fulfill my ambition one day,Insya-Allah. For now, I’m looking forward to serving my country. That’s right, LOOKING FORWARD.

Sigh. In recent months my ankles have caused me problems. They seem to injure easily. I can’t play football without feeling some pain and I haven’t been running these past few months so I’ve lost plenty of speed. So I’m going for a checkup in a cuppla days time and hopefully it’ll heal and I can play again.

It’s gonna be Ramadhan soon and I can’t wait!! Have a good day, everyone.=)

You know, all I wanna do is get to know you, meet you and like you.

But now it seems like, wow, we really are doing nothing. I mean, you’re doing nothing. I sometimes wonder what you’re doing, what you’re wearing..even though I don’t even know you. You’re probably just sitting behind your desk in class doing some artsy stuff, clubbing with your girlfriends or doing other things that don’t have anything to do with thinking about how you thought this guy was cute and wanted to get to know him and caught him off guard but in the end thought that whussisname was just another loser.

Pfff. And here I was, lying down on my bed, head rested on my palms fantasizing how I’d go to your school every other day, eat with you during your breaks and walk you to your class when we finish talking and laughing and you’d find an excuse to skip class just to spend more time with me. And then my mind would drift to a park bench where we our lips first met and you’d lie on my chest and me just holding you close, stroking your hair and we’d not say a thing. After we gaze into the eternal darkness above us for what seems like an eternity, we’d look at each other and share a passionate embrace. Then I’d just want to say how much you mean to me and hope that you’d tell me a story of just three words……

That’s how far I went. And we hardly know each other. But it meant the world to me when I first got to know you. Albeit it was not person to person, it meant that someone was interested in me. Someone felt enough attraction to want to make the first move.

.

.

But now, just like how every chapter of my love-life ends, it finishes with me knocking on a door of stranger, hoping someday it’ll open.

END

And OH!!! United scored their first silverware of the season!!! Not a great performance but a win is a win is a win.

Plus,I played my first match in months after many postpones in previous weeks. Plenty of chances,DID NOT put them away but I felt I was doing considerably well despite the months of hiatus from football, one of my true loves. Made the defenders look like fools with my guile but…did not find the back of the net. Team lost. 2-1. Now I have two very sore ankles, a hurting shin and sore back, all from getting hacked down by the frustrated defenders. I guess when I give, boy do I take.

The day will finally come when Rafael dethrones Roger from his No.1 rank! I don’t know what’s going on in Federer’s mind right now, he looks far from a man who has won 12 grand slam titles. You have to feel sorry for the guy. I think, after 4½ years of being the top man, pressure and fatigue has caught up with him. I watched the epic battle of tennis powerhouses in the Wimbledon men’s final. It was nail-biting, jaw dropping, nerve-wrecking. I didn’t know who to back to win the whole thing-I wanted Roger to set a new record of 6 straight Wimbledon titles but I also wanted Rafa to win something else besides the French Open.

I think Rafa deserves what he has and will achieve(d). He’s a nice and humble bloke, a top athlete and an immensely talented player. I’m sure,as everyone else is,he will be one of the main men of tennis for years to come.

As for Mr. Federer, I hope he bounces back from this spell he is in now. He’s still one of,if not THE best players of all time. Like the saying goes, form is temporary, class is forever. And Roger has class like no one else does. C’mon Roger!!!

And now for football. Wow. Spurs do know how to spend. Modric, Dos Santos, Bentley. Three young and very exciting players. I hope they don’t disappoint again like last season when they were expected to challenge for a top 4 place but only managed a mid-table finish. I will update as soon as I get to know the latest transfers!

Pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff.

Lets just say she didn’t think I was “kinda cute” and never added me at MSN, wouldn’t it have made my life easy for the past month? Then I wouldn’t have to be playing mind games-no wait. I wouldn’t have been a VICTIM of mind games.

I’d tell her “Hey,call me. Here’s my number-96126126. Call me. Please call me. Okay?” Without a word, offline she’d go. Ok,maybe she’ll call later. An hour’d go by. Then 2. And then 3. When its 4 in the morning, I still would wait. But the sleepy mind and those 2-ton eyelids won’t let up on me. Then I’d surrender into a deep slumber. When I awake at 12 noon, the first thing I’d do is check my phone for missed calls. Nada. Zilch. Nothing. “Ok maybe she was too tired. She’ll call soon.” My naiveness and oblivion to the obvious triggered, creating a sense of hope. Not expectation, hope.

I’d constantly look at the photo she’d given to me to show me how she looks like the first time we chatted through MSN messenger. I saved it in my phone. Gosh. Everytime I look at it, I’d raise my odds of getting her.

Another game of wait and patience ensues come the night. On some nights, she wouldn’t appear at all. But sometimes, juusst sometimes, she’d appear and my head would fill up with so much thoughts and my heart filled with joy. I ask her “Hey,you there? You went offline when I was asking you to call.” “Heh, I do that to everyone. Sorry.” I felt like by everyone, she meant me when she said that. “Hey you busy? Can you call me?” I’d type, my fingers so fast because of fear of another she-go-offline-and-me-left-dumbfounded incident. She’d reply “brb” and I’d wait like dumbshit because I’d mistaken a “bye romeo, bye” for a “be right back”. Yeah,”bye romeo, bye” because she went offline-again. Yessa.

What am I doing wrong? Is she playing hard to get or just plain doesn’t want to have anything to do with me,or is it just me?

Is it wrong that I’m enthusiastic about wanting to get to know her better, to want to talk to her, give her attention?

I like her. I really do. But I dare not call this love. Noooo no.

Maybe its ’cause I’m persistent. Too eager. Too pesterous. Or maybe just plain ugly. Unattractive. Dull.

But now, everytime she comes online,my heart flares with hope because I get another shot at a chat with her but at the same time,it tears my heart out because I know she’d go offline and leave me empty again.
